Annotate PNG Images

Mark up screenshots and photos with text, callouts, shapes, and drawings, all rendered locally on a PNG image.

  • Files stay on your device.
  • Processed locally in your browser.
  • No uploads. No storage.

Annotate Image adds editable notes, arrows, shapes, highlights, and freehand marks without uploading the source file.

Objects remain separate while you work, then are applied when you create the finished download.

What you can do

  • Add, select, move, resize, rotate, duplicate, and delete annotation objects.
  • Style text, strokes, shape fills, highlights, and freehand drawing.
  • Use pointer controls or keyboard-operable transform buttons, undo up to 50 recent actions, and export at the source dimensions.
  • Keep animated GIF files as animations and SVG files as scalable vectors.

Before you start

  • Raster and GIF downloads flatten annotations into their image frames; SVG downloads retain the annotation geometry as vector elements.
  • Annotation export supports source images up to 50 megapixels to keep browser memory use predictable.
  • Animated GIF processing requires a modern browser with module workers and OffscreenCanvas, and enforces frame, dimension, and decoded-memory limits.
  • The GIF preview uses the first rendered frame even though the downloaded annotation is applied to every frame.

How it works

  1. Choose the PNG image you want to mark up.
  2. Add text, shapes, arrows, highlights, or freehand drawing, and arrange the objects.
  3. Download the annotated PNG image.
