Crop GIF Images

Keep only the area you need from a GIF image using an interactive crop preview with zoom and aspect ratio presets.

  • Files stay on your device.
  • Processed locally in your browser.
  • No uploads. No storage.

Crop Image keeps a selected rectangular area and creates a new image from that region.

The on-image selection and dimension readout make it possible to confirm the crop before processing.

What you can do

  • Move and resize the crop selection directly on the preview with a pointer or keyboard.
  • Use freeform or preset aspect ratios.
  • Review the selected output dimensions before downloading.
  • Keep SVG files as scalable vectors and animated GIF files as animations.

Before you start

  • Raster and GIF output excludes the area outside the selection; SVG output changes the visible viewBox while retaining the vector document content.
  • Large source images require enough browser memory to decode and re-encode.
  • Animated GIF processing requires a modern browser with module workers and OffscreenCanvas.
  • WebP output depends on browser encoding support; an unavailable WebP encoder falls back to PNG with a clear notice.

How it works

  1. Choose the GIF image you want to crop.
  2. Drag the crop area, zoom in for precision, or pick a fixed aspect ratio.
  3. Download the cropped GIF with its animation intact.

Common questions

Can I crop to a fixed aspect ratio?

Yes. You can crop freeform or lock the selection to common ratios like square, 4:3, and 16:9.

Can I undo a crop on a GIF image?

Yes. Use Undo to step back through selection moves, resizes, preset changes, or Reset selection. Reset returns to the starting selection and is itself undoable.

Does the cropped GIF image keep its format?

Yes. On supported modern browsers, every GIF frame is cropped and its timing, transparency, disposal behavior, and loop setting are preserved.
