Sharpen Images

Make soft details look clearer with local sharpening that preserves animated GIF output and scalable SVG output.

  • Files stay on your device.
  • Processed locally in your browser.
  • No uploads. No storage.

Sharpen Image increases local edge contrast to make mildly soft details appear clearer.

Presets and an intensity slider share the same local processing pipeline used by the downloadable result.

What you can do

  • Choose Light, Medium, or Strong presets.
  • Fine-tune intensity and hold the compare control to view the original.
  • Preserve animated GIF frames and timing in supported modern browsers.
  • Keep SVG artwork scalable with a standards-based vector filter.

Before you start

  • Sharpening cannot recover detail lost to heavy motion or focus blur.
  • Whole-image effects support up to 24 megapixels to keep memory use predictable.
  • Too much sharpening can create halos around high-contrast edges.
  • Sharpening may have little visible effect on flat SVG fills without detailed edges.
  • Animated GIF processing requires modern browser worker and canvas support.

How it works

  1. Choose the image you want to sharpen.
  2. Pick Light, Medium, or Strong, and fine-tune the amount.
  3. Compare before and after, then download.

Common questions

Can sharpening fix a blurry photo?

Sharpening enhances edge contrast to make soft details clearer; it improves mild softness but cannot recover heavily blurred detail.

Can I control the strength?

Yes. Three presets plus an amount slider give you fine control over the effect.

Are GIF animation and SVG vectors preserved?

Yes. Supported modern browsers retain animated GIF frames and timing, while SVG downloads stay scalable and use a vector convolution filter.
